June 28, 2025 | 4–8 PM | Fort Buenaventura, Ogden, Utah

The Weber County Heritage Foundation is proud to present People of Weber County, a hands-on cultural celebration happening Saturday, June 28th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the historic Fort Buenaventura.

This free, family-friendly event invites the community to explore and celebrate the many cultures that helped build Weber County into what it is today. The event will feature immersive experiences highlighting five core groups who have shaped the region’s history and identity:

  • Northwestern Band of the Shoshone Nation

  • Japanese community members and descendants

  • Italian immigrants and their families

  • Hispanic community and cultural leaders

  • Utah Pioneers and early settlers

Each cultural group will host an area of the Fort filled with educational storyboards, crafts, and interactive displays that share their journey—how they came to Weber County, the challenges they faced, and the incredible contributions they’ve made to the community.

What to Expect

  • Free crafts and activities for all ages

  • Museum-quality storyboards developed with help from cultural partners

  • Local ethnic food trucks with authentic offerings

  • Vendors selling handmade, culturally inspired goods

  • Opportunities to connect with neighbors, learn something new, and celebrate the richness of our shared past

Why It Matters

This event is part of the Weber County Heritage Foundation’s 2025–2026 initiative to offer free and low-cost programs that make history accessible, engaging, and meaningful to the public. People of Weber County honors the many communities that have contributed to Weber County’s story—beginning with its original Indigenous inhabitants and continuing through generations of immigrant settlers who made their homes here across different eras.

By spotlighting the diverse groups that call Weber County home, we hope to foster connection, understanding, and pride in the people and stories that make our county unique.
