“The War to End All Wars”
This is the second phase of the restoration of Gold Star Drive and the memorials to the local soldiers who died during WWI. On November 11, 2011 the restoration of the individual plaques recognizing each individual were copied from the original and replaced with new plaques, including three plaques for individuals who had been overlooked originally.
Additionally the monuments at the entry to Gold Star Drive had deteriorated and were replaced with granite monoliths with the plaques restored and installed on the front of the monuments. Local Boy Scouts planted maple trees to replace those that had died over the last seven decades. A dedication ceremony was attended by many local elected officials and Colonel Keith Knudson, Commander 419th Fighter Wing, gave a memorial speech.
